Roles and positions up for grabs |
Executive Committee:
The ExCo is mainly in charge of leading the council, setting council direction and ensuring that information is disseminated successfully and prevent conflicts within the council. In Charge (I/C): ICs are in charge of their respective committees and ensure that conflicts are minimised and committee abide by their goals and plans. Council members contribute ideas and aid with the execution. This is very crucial as the council cannot function without these members. |
Communication Council work depends largely on communication between members, the improper dissemination of information will lead to ineffective and inefficient work progress and miscommunication between committe members will lead to dissatisfaction and misunderstandings. Communication is key to ensure success of the event. Friendship, teamwork Secondly, trust in your fellow peers. Council work is not a one-man-solo kind of thing and requires the work of multiple people in order to be brought to succession. As such it is very important that we place our faith in our fellow councilmates that they will do a good job with the task and should also take the responsibility to ensure that the work we do is of good quality. Accountability When things go the right way, we take the due credit. But when things go wrong, we have to learn to be accountable and step forward and take responsibility for our actions. A leader is expected to be accountable for things under his charge, hence if things go wrong he should naturally step forward and take the due responsibility. |

"There isn't a specific set of skills that someone must possess in order to be a councillor, and everyone has to start from scratch. Definitely values like responsibility and accountability will help, but ultimately I think it is the willingness to be receptive to feedback and improvement on our methods that are important. We will make mistakes along the way, but it is important to listen to the feedback of others on it and improve respectively."
